Goudbes is een plant oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit de Andes in Zuid-Amerika. De plant wordt wel voor de bessen gekweekt. Langs de grote rivieren is deze plant met grote regelmaat op de oevers aan te treffen. Cape Gooseberry is a plant which origin is in the Andes, but it's long cultivated. First in South Africa and more recently in Europe. Now it's often found on the rivershores along the bigger rivers in the Netherlands
